Co-rinsing VS Co-washing.

Hello faithful readers. Today we are going to talk about co-rinsing. If you have read the post How to co-wash an what is co-washing   I guess you can already figure out what co-rinsing is.

Co-rinsing is a term (that cannot be found in a normal dictionary) which  is derived from the word " COnditioner + Rinsing".  It simply means rinsing your hair with conditioner okay not exactly but we will clear things out by the end of this post.

What actually co-rinsing is?

Co-rinsing is basically applying conditioner only on the length of your hair leaving it in for  two to three minutes then rinsing.

What's the differences of it, co-washing  and its aim ?

Let start with the difference. The differences of it and co-washing:
1. It's being applied to the ends of your hair while co-washing is applied from root to tip.
2.It's worked only into your ends always avoiding the scalp and left in for longer.

The aim of it is not to 'cleanse' the scalp or the hair but to add additional quick boost of moisture to it.Also some scalps don't like co-washing. It makes some people's scalp itch, break out or get oilier, you know something that doesn't click right. So instead this is a good alternative for those with dry hair and oily scalp (those with oily scalps should also read what should people with oily scalp know) or  those with dry hair and a scalp that don't like co-washing.Win-win !

Of course the conditioner you are using might be building up on your scalp if it has silicone or heavy, thick substances. That's why i suggest a light and silicone free  if possible conditioner is optimal.

How do i co-rinse.

1. Get a light (preferably silicone free) cheap conditioner. You can get an expensive one if you want but if you are doing it frequently you better get something cheap that works on your hair.

2. Rinse your hair with lukewarm water (those with oily hair should avoid hot or very warm water) and apply a considerate for your hair length amount of conditioner to your hair.  Those with oil scalps should apply it to their tips if you have short hair or the hair half away below the middle of your neck if you have longer hair.  Those without oily scalps can apply if a few inches away from their scalp. Then scrunch the conditioner into your hair gently, work it in for about a 30 seconds-1 min (don't massage it into your scalp just work it on your hair!!!)  then leave it to soak in for 2 - 4 more minutes.

3. Rinse you hair very well again with lukewarm water (those with oily hair should avoid hot or very warm water)to get rid of the conditioner.

6. Do a final cold water rinse (a must for oily hair because it doesn't trigger the production of sebum as hot or warm water does). Want another reason why?Read hair loss in the shower tip no 1.

7. Continue with your normal styling routine. Go ahead and style your hair as you please.
