By the way WELCOME to my two newest followers :)

You have damaged your hair, now having remorse of why you damage it in the first place. Why did I used that heat appliance? Why did I bleach, perm, color, and relaxed my hair? Okay enough remorse for today. Because I’m going to whip up the regime that will transform your hair to unbelievable health. As I usually say I can’t guarantee anything  would work but since there is no other choice left for you try this might end up being what you need.

If you want to know if your hair is damage read 'How to know your hair is damaged'

On a side note, damage hair cannot be repaired that’s why I put it into quotes but you can improve the health of your hair to the point that damage isn’t that evident. This regime is for chemical or heat damaged hair that is breaking. Though if you have split ends you must trim them off before even attempting this regime.
Before throwing the towel and giving up follow the regime below. It's for severely damaged hair so if your hair is lightly damage you won't need to follow such an 'extreme' regime.

Glorious Angel damage hair rescue Regime :

This is to be done once a month.Make sure you have at least 4 hrs in hand because it's a bit time consuming but worth it.

1. Shampoo your hair as you normally do with your shampoo.

2. Towel blot and apply a reconstructor. A hair reconstructor is usually a protein based treatment that fills in the chipped spots of your hair strands. The main protein I look for in such treatment is keratin because keratin is the form of protein our hair is build of. Aphogee though has hydrolyzed collagen which works quite well.So actually it’s called a reconstructor just because it reconstructs the hair for an amount of time.

My recommendations (I’ll add some links so you can check out its description and reviews, you don’t need to buy it from the links stated I just used them for reference):

OR
  • b. Nexxus Emergencee Restorative Strength Conditioning Treatment

3. Follow up with a moisturizing deep conditioner. The reconstructors I recommended dry out your hair (due to the protein). After rinsing the reconstuctor you will see that your hair is prone to tangles and stiff so to soften it up you have to give it some moisture. That’s why you should ALWAYS follow it up with a moisturizing treatment!

My recommendations:

a.L Oreal Natures Therapy Mega Moisture Nurturing Crème

A product thumbnail of L Oreal Natures Therapy Mega Moisture Nurturing Creme 16 oz

 OR

b. Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle Deep Conditioner

Aussie Moist 3 Minute Miracle Deep Treatment

4. Apply your leave in or styling products and proceed as you usually do (no damaging practices ,that way you aren't sabotaging your progress,  here comes in handy of  my post 4 essentials to grow healthy long hair)

Usually people see an improvement after the first use of my regime but you must continue this every month.
Follow the directions EXACTLY as stated on the products esp. on the reconstructors because they can tangle your hair badly and cause breakage if misused. Plus I must indicate that the aphogee doesn't smell that good but if it works who minds. The reconstructor should be used only once a month while the deep conditioners can be used as often as needed.I highly recommend you follow the reconstructor instructions exactly but leave the deep conditioner on your hair for not less than 30min (an hour will be ideal). If you don't know how to deep condition feel free to ask:)

As usual some things might just not work for you, this might or not be one of them; so i must let you know beforehand.

If this worked for you let others know.

Ps. These products are recommended because I know they work, however what works for one might not work for the other so be aware of that. Some of the links provided for the products are affliate. Do a patch test before introducing new products and make sure you follow the instructions of each product you use closely.

Don't  forget to follow, share the blog and comment. Don't be shy ^_^

    1. Hi Azar.
Yes, you are right. That is the downside of it.It would be helpful if you can give me the names of some product lines in India so i can check out if any of them are suitable for this regime. You might as well check ebay and see if it's cheaper but really i don't want to put you under such an expense. The basic point is: for the moisturizing treatment you can use any rich mask that keeps your hair really moisturized. But the problem is the re-constructors, not all work the same or as well.To select a good potential candidate to substitute the recommended re-constructors look at the ingredients list of re-constructors available at India; if 'hydrolyzed keratin' is in the very first 3 or maximum 5 ingredients then that's a good try.

  3. I just colored my dark brown hair to a light blonde. It turned orange and I had to go to a professional. Though I told her I used a 40 base as well as a color to get it this light, she insisted on highliging to even it out. Now my hair is white on most parts and feels like compelte straw. I'm so upset. I don't know what to do. I had to cut off several inches of my long hair to get the dead parts off and it still isn't all gone. I read using olive oil and regualr veggie oil also helps! Wish me luck.

    1. Hi Anonymous,
i'm sorry about what happened to your hair.
About the olive oil or veggie oil is just about what you want to get, but it helps with the hairs elasticity. You can follow this regime which i believe will help.
      Wish you good luck!

I had gotten my hair relaxed a year ago about July of 2011 and I haven't re done it but my hair is a kind of a situation right now because my natural hair has grown out to about half of my hair's length and the other hal is still straight. My hair's length is about 1 inch below my shoulder and dark brown , its prone to breakage and it looks bad.Any natural remedies? The faster the work , the better. Also I live in India and many products aren't available here. Please HELP!

  5. Hi,
About 2 months ago I had bleach blonde hair and I decided to perm it and my hair was so damaged that only my regrowth wasn't breaking (I had like 3 inches of regrowth) But of coarse I didn't want to cut my hair 3 inches short so I cut off well over 5 inches and colored my hair brown so I wouldn't have to bleach it anymore but my hair is still super, super damaged and just 100% ugly and porous. Do you have any more suggestions besides this treatment of how I can make it look a little better without cutting it completely off? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

    1. Hi Anonymous :),
first of all take a deep breath and relax. Then move on to read and follow what i'll tell you. Don't forget to come back and drop a comment on how it worked for you so I can know to help you further if needed. Indeed i'm sure your hair is in a VERY bad condition. I want you to do the following. Do this once a week once your hair feels better do it every two weeks for a month then once your hair looks even better do it once a month.

      1. Eliminate damaging acts. No teasing, bleach, heat styling e.t.c

      2. To strengthen your hair go get 1 can of beer that is low alcohol the lower the better (non alcoholic is optimal). Make sure you are not allergic to it. Keep it out till it gets to room temperature. If you want more explanation about that let me know. I'll make a post about it anyways though some time ahead.

      Now do the following exactly....

      3. Shampoo your hair really clean with warm water. Gently squeeze out excess water and let it air dry for 5 min. Now Go back to the shower and pour over the beer on your hair. Let it sit for 15 min. Rinse with lukewarm water and apply a moisturizing conditioner to it. Let it sit as per the instructions say lets say 3 min and then rinse with cold water. The rest days of the week I suggest you co-wash or co-rinse (I've posted about that on the blog so look out for those.) This might not be as strong so the results would be progressive (so don't expect super duper results but give it a try and you might be surprised.)The beer odour would faint after some minutes once your hair fully dries so don't worry.

      4. Come drop a comment and let me know how it went :)

    3. Hi Annette,
It's kind of hard to suggest when I don't know where you live at. But as I said get one that has the lowest amount of alcohol at least.

    1. Hi Momo,
what happened is that the bleach damaged your hair severely. I don't know how many tones it has lifted off your hair but the results can tell that it was a lot. Any chemical treatment like bleach, relaxers e.t.c on the hair except some specific dyes for 25 min is a lot. I hope you followed the instructions correctly but even so bleach does more harm than good anyways. The ends of your hair are the most fragile and oldest part of your hair, so it has gone through yrs of natural wear and tear. Have you followed the regime in the article? If not give it a try and let me know if your hair feels any better.

    1. Hi javaLADY4084,
which shampoo and conditioner did you use? Has it weaken your hair or made it dry?

      Delete
    2. Glorious Angel: I used Bumble and Bumbles Antibreakage shampoo and conditioner for the first time and it made my hair EXTREMELY dry and broke sections off of my hair until they are 3 inches long. I've always had slightly dry hair and a little breakage but now: my hair is crazy dry (you can't tell I washed and conditioned it a few hours later). It is VERY weak now: to the point that I'm afraid to do anything to it.

    3. Hi again :),
I tried to look for the shampoo and conditioner you're talking of but could not find it in their line. I suggest what you do is follow a porosity treatment then follow up by a moisturizing treatment. I suggest Roux porosity control corrector and conditioner followed up by a moisturizing treatment. I suggested two examples up there in the article...since your hair is fine be light-handed with the moisturizing treatments as they have lots of emollients. Do that and let me know how it goes and if your hair feels any better. If you want suggestions for shampoo conditioner after that..let me know. Your hair does not respond well to some or one of its (shampoo/conditioner) ingredients of the one you used. Thanks for visiting my blog :) Please share it with your friends if I was helpful. Take care.

  8. My mistake: the Bumble and Bumble shampoo and conditioner is called Mending and not Antibreakage.

I would love recommendations for shampoo and conditioner as well. Also, it would be helpful to have a set of guidelines: so I know how often to use the Roux Porosity treatment, how often to just shampoo/condition or, co-wash etc for the optimal benefit. Thank you!!!

    1. Hi again my fellow ^_^,
Okay I checked it out and it's pretty expensive stuff you bought. So bad it did not work as good for you. I'll suggest something cheaper. Now...I don't know if you are into organic stuff but if not then I recommend for your type of hair something that is way cheaper, Suave Almond + Shea Butter Shampoo & Conditioner. I suggest you shampoo your hair once a week the most. Don't co-wash your hair. I suggest you 'co-rinse' and I’m sure you can find my article on it somewhere on the blog. If you are very active but have dry hair and you don't want to shampoo then and only then, co-wash but usually water is enough to clear out sweat. Co-rinsing can be done twice a week at most I suggest for you (or co-washing once a week...remember...you have dry hair so you are not to shampoo your hair as much as others do). If your scalp or hair needs shampooing more than once a week don't hesitate though. I suggest you use roux every other week(on your shampoo day) while the moisturizing treatment the day you decide to shampoo and the day that you don’t use Roux. On the first time you use it though…use it as I suggested to you in my comment up there. If your hair feels weak you can get some Nutress Hair Moisturizing Protein Pack for Extremely Damaged Hair since it's cheap like once a month (or once every two months) then followed up with the moisturizing treatment. Be light handed with the moisturizing treatment as it would weigh down your hair if you are heavy handed. Also avoid applying conditioner on your roots. I don't know if you use a leave in or what your current regimen is but from what you have told me so far these are my suggestions to you. In recap…1.Co-rinse twice a week at most if needed 2. Shampoo maximum once a week but you can use it more than once if needed 2. Deep conditioning routine (after initial treatment): (week 1) Roux – (week 2) Moisturizing Treatment – (week 3) Roux – (week 4) Nutress + Moisturizing treatment (repeat) if you feel your hair is weak if not…use only moisturizing treatment. Let me know if you need anything else. I hope this was helpful. You are welcome :)

  9. Thank you so much for the information. However, I do have an off-the-wall question that I don't intend to be racist. I've been researching the recommended products and they all seem to be for African-American hair but I am Caucasian. Will they work for me as well?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi javaLADY4084,
:) to be honest your question made me smile. Good you asked as i'm sure this question has been there for long among many. Yes they would work for you as well probably...remember in all those cosmetic products they use the same "chemicals" there is no special chemical for Caucasians or African - Americans e.t.c Though I must note that most African American hair products are rich in emollients more than the usual "Caucasian" stuff as most African Americans have dry hair. (Some are overly oily though so If the ones I suggested work don't go and shop for just about any African American product :D). The more scientific answer is that all kinds of human hair are made primarily from the same protein called keratin the same way skin cells are made from the same material in all humans therefore what your hair or skin recognizes is when a product works or not or the reaction it causes. I can't guarantee those products would work for you but I suggest you give it a try and see for yourself. The bumble and bumbles you bought is almost like the price of all I suggested if not more expensive so you don't lose anything. I usually look at the composure of a product or its effect not much on who it is marketed on as that can be misleading sometimes.

      I hope this was helpful.

  10. I'm just questioning because I know products designed for Caucasian hair are sometimes formulated differently. :)

    1. Hi,
It's okay. Don't worry. By the way...I forgot to say..before trying new products do a patch test or allergy test for example if you have a "nut allergy" you shouldn't use the Shea butter conditioner/shampoo...these things are things you should look out as well as many consumers.

It's frayed on all the ends. Last night I used Shea butter and slept with it on covered by a stocking, this morning I rinsed it out and it was better. How often should I do this?

    1. Hi there Gina,
I didn't get the other message. This is the first one I got from you, I guess it didn't get submitted for one reason or the other. Sorry for the inconvenience. If you are talking of the process in this page it is to be done once a month I have written. Though you can use the moisturizing masks weekly but not the protein treatment. If you are talking of the shea butter thing you did, you can do it as often as needed. Once a week or every two week seems good, if you feel your ends need it more often then go ahead and do what works better for you.
Thanks so much for commenting and feel free to share the blog with your friends.

  12. Hi,
I had my hair cut and they used a razor on my top layer to give me "more volume"... I have a lot of hair, but it is pretty fine. Since having the top layer razored, the ends are continuously splitting and constantly look damaged! The cut was about 4 months ago and it's too short to cut it all off.. I keep trying to trim it every 8 weeks in hopes of it growing out, but everytime I cut it, the ends seem to shortly split again! I always had really healthy and strong hair before this.. any thoughts or recommendations?
    Thanks so much!

    Replies
    1. Hi Anonymous,
it is possible that your hair is damaged from the haircut you got. The angle used to trim or thin the hair is very important as well as the sharpness of the razor or scissor used. Since the splitting started after the layers you got, I believe the way your hair was handled is the problem. Trimming your hair every 8 weeks will not make your hair grow but it helps a lot with split ends. I suggest you try to do some sort of conditioning or treatment for your ends. Try using some silicon to seal them(some silicone's act like temporal glue) and help slow down the splitting till you get to a decent amount and can get a hair cut (I suggest in another salon). Also try to manipulate your hair less and protect your ends. I hope this helps.

  13. Hello, um Ive bleached my hair atleast 2x and Ive dyed it atleast more than 20x and my hair is horrible!! When dry it looks kind of normal, its thinner than before and you just see some of the damage done but when it's wet, its when things are ugly, my hair literally feels like goo and it takes a very very long time for it to dry!!It also breaks off very very easily, it makes me cry! It's not just the ends its atleast half of my hair, my hair goes up to my breast, I was wondering do I just chop it off or do I slowly just trim it every time it grows an inch? HEEELLPPP MEEEE, I look waaaay better with longer hair but I guess I am willing to take the risk of getting short hair..

    1. Hi Anonymous, I checked out sunsilk relaxer and it seems to be a permanent chemical treatment. You can't remove a chemical treatment. The only thing you can do to get rid of it is grow it out and gradually trim the relaxed part. If you can list me the ingredients it will help me validate if it is indeed permanent or not. I hope this helped.

  15. Hi there, I don't know if you still check this page or not but I was just needing some advice on severe breakages. Iv had my hair highlighted for three or four years a d the last year it really started breaking badly, around the front and underneath. I was putting my hair in a top bun a lot so I'm wondering if that's why? Anyhow, it's really short in odd places, but still long for the most part. Iv gone brunette to stop all the bleaching but it looks a choppy mess, what should I do!? I will try yr above treatment idea but I need a cut that will save it! Help.
    Ps I'm in the uk

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Gem! Yes I still check this page. Anyways, I suspect that it is indeed a combination of the top bun which I believe it is one of the top reasons and the past bleaching. I suggest you do your best to avoid having a top bun for months till your hair recovers. Find another style but make sure it does not involves pulling. I haven't written a blog post about this yet even though I was thinking of it, but think of it... when you do a top bun where does most of the strain goes to? If you try to do a top bun pay attention to that, (where does your hair feel tension on ?) and it will help you understand how and why the breakage occurred, with addition to the damage from bleaching. From what you are telling me your hair right now seems to have at least two types of damage - chemical damage and mechanical damage. Read here for more [ http://beautybookworm.blogspot.com/2012/11/types-of-hair-damage.html ]

I have no clue of what your hair looks like now so it is hard for me to know if it is what hairstyle you should do. Your hairs porosity might have changed too due to the bleaching. If you want a short haircut though a pixie cut/shaggy pixie cut, or for medium length, a bob, will do the trick but it also depends on what will suit your face shape as well.

Lastly the cut won't fully save it, the way you treat your hair in addition to the cut or anything else needed to get it to a healthier state will save it. It is great that you are doing your best to stop the damaging practices, you are towards the right direction.

I hope this answer helps. If you have any other question or something you need clarification on you can ask. Also feel free to share my blog with your friends or your social media if it has been helpful to you in any way.

    1. Yes. I suggest the other recommendations specified in this post first. The egg - mayo thing is not enough to help with the amount of damage that was done, because the molecules of the protein in the egg/mayo are too big to penetrate the hair shaft. So you better try the other remedies suggested before resorting to cutting.

    1. Hi. I am glad you liked this article. I think you might like to visit another doctor for a 2nd opinion on what you can do to treat this hair loss. Make sure you do a blood test to ensure you are not deficient in anything such as iron that could also cause hair loss and thinning. Since this is not breakage but hair fall, you will need to take care of your internal health the most.

    1. Hi anon,

I suggest you visit a doctor for this. Like have some blood test done, check your thyroid to see if there is any hormonal imbalance...there are many reasons that could lead to this, making sure you do some medical tests first will help you work on any issues that might relate with deficiencies to certain minerals or other causes. In a nutshell you might like to have a medical checkup first.
