Types of Hair Damage

Did you know that there are various forms of hair damage?
Below I'll note forms of hair damage and its causes. Note that a person can have a combination of those damages.

*Systematic damage - caused by a medical or genetic condition. An example of it is hair loss due to medication and thyroid.

*Chemical damage - caused by a chemical process or application done to the hair. An example of it is damage due to bleaching, relaxers, perms, dyeing and so forth.

*Mechanical damage - caused by rough handling of the hair. An example of it is breakage due to rough brushing.

*Thermal damage also called Heat damage - caused by excessive or incorrect use of a heat appliance (flat iron, blow-dryer , marcel irons e.t.c)  on your hair. The damage can be so severe to the point of melting the hairs keratin or creating bubbles in the hair. An example of such damage is left over straight pieces of hair on a curly head, total loss of curl pattern, brittleness, breakage, split ends.

Photo-chemical damage - caused by the ultraviolet rays of the sun (UVA,UVB). Under prolong exposure those can break the protein bonds of your hair making it fade in colour, become dull, dry, porous and create weak spots on your hair strands.

* Natural/Environmental damage - However we go about it everything in nature has an expiration date. This all due to the effects of the environment, exposure and time. This form of damage is unavoidable but also the less damaging of all.
